History
On November 23, 2005, Georgia Aquarium officially opened its doors to the public. As the world’s largest aquarium, Georgia Aquarium features more animals than any other aquarium in more than ten million gallons of water. Through a path of more than sixty exhibits, the Aquarium tells a global water story, with features modeled after the greatest zoos and aquariums in the world. Each majestic exhibit is designed to inspire, entertain and educate.

The Art Gallery is the best kept secret!!! Clark Atlanta University Art Galleries (CAUAG) possesses a permanent collection of some 640 works of art in three major categories:
Contemporary American
African American

The three collections include paintings, murals, sculpture, works on paper and ethnographical artifacts acquired through annual purchases and donations. Of the three collection categories, the largest and most historically significant is the African American. It comprises some 950 works of art spanning seven decades (1914-1998). The renowned collection is rivaled only by the art collections at Hampton University in Virginia and Howard University in Washington, D.C. Significant works in the collection include Henry O. Tanner's Disciples Healing the Sick , Snow Morning by Romare Bearden,Brownstones by Jacob Lawrence, and the Art of the Negro mural series by Hale Woodruff.

The Atlanta History Center is a unique campus that houses the Atlanta History Museum, Centennial Olympic Games Museum, Swan House, Smith Family Farm, six historic gardens, and the Kenan Research Center. The Atlanta History Center also includes the Margaret Mitchell House, located off-site at our Midtown campus.
Throughout the year, we bring history to life through living history programs, lectures with award-winning authors, toddler programs, homeschool days, school tours, summer camps, music series, annual festivals such as Sheep to Shawl, and much more.
